Pest control in Burton
Families with children in school or day care should know about MCL 324.8316. It says a pesticide cannot be applied in a school or day care unless the building has an integrated pest management program, and parents get annual notice and 48 hours' advance notice of applications other than bait or gel formulations. Firms working in those buildings must first evaluate the pest problem and write a management plan. If you hear your child's building is being treated, you have a right to that notice.
It does not cover your own house, and the paperwork rules for a home visit are in the paperwork guide. Burton has 29,529 people, a median home value of $131,200 and 69.9 percent of homes that predate 1980 (Census ACS 2023). We cannot cite a Genesee County health, mosquito or animal control page for Burton, so call the county directly. Flint is 4.1 miles away, Fenton 14.7 and Owosso 28.2.
When you get a quote, ask which pest, what evidence and what product. MCL 324.8313(12) is Michigan's check on that: a treatment cannot be called necessary for a pest that is not present or likely. MDARD, not the city, licenses applicators, and its complaint line is 800-292-3939.
The wider area: Thumb and Saginaw Bay
Flint, Saginaw and Bay City have median home values of $47,600, $54,000 and $89,900 (Census ACS 2023), and Midland, Burton, Port Huron and Fenton sit in the same region. Where houses are worth less, the cost of an unneeded plan weighs more. We cannot cite a county health, mosquito or animal control page for Genesee, Saginaw, Bay, Midland or St. Clair counties, so these entries rely on the state's licensing and wildlife rules, which apply everywhere.
What pest control costs near Burton
We have collected no quotes for Burton, so there is no price for the city itself. The statewide estimates are on each service page, and the Michigan page lists them with what pest control workers are paid (the Michigan median in BLS data for May 2025 is $21.38 an hour, which is pay, not price) and the state fees companies pay to be licensed. How we estimate costs.
Licensing and rules for pest control in Burton
Pest control has no city permit. MDARD licenses the company and its applicators statewide, and under MCL 324.8328 a city cannot add its own applicator license, though it may still regulate posting and notification. Ask any company for its MDARD business license number and the applicator's name, and call MDARD at 800-292-3939 with questions or complaints.
