The company needs a license and an applicator with a credential, and a reaction in progress is a 911 call. Carpenter ants fall under MDARD's category 7B, and the EPA says ants have bent antennae and longer front wings, which separates them from termites.
The wider area: Oakland County
MDHHS's October 16, 2026 summary counts six human West Nile cases in Oakland County, and the department lists Oakland with Macomb and Wayne as the counties that have historically seen the most West Nile activity. Most housing in the older suburbs was built before 1980, and each city page gives its own share. A county or city adult-mosquito spraying program is not something we can point you to in Oakland County, so ask your city whether one covers your street.

Licensing and rules for pest control in Wixom
Pest control has no city permit. MDARD licenses the company and its applicators statewide, and under MCL 324.8328 a city cannot add its own applicator license, though it may still regulate posting and notification.
